About Camera Detector Ultra

Camera Detector Ultra is built by AI Expert Labs, a small team making practical privacy and utility apps. The app and this site exist for one reason: checking a room for hidden cameras should be something anyone can do with the phone they already own.

What the app does — and doesn't

The app combines three on-device checks (WiFi network scanning, magnetometer sweeps, and infrared lens detection) to surface signals that deserve a closer look. We are deliberate about the framing: no app can guarantee that every hidden device will be found. A camera that is powered off, well shielded, or recording locally can evade any single method. That's why every guide on this site ends with a physical inspection step, and why the app teaches the method rather than just flashing a "room is clean" verdict.

How we research our guides

  • We test on real hardware. Detection steps are verified against consumer spy cameras (smoke-detector, charger, and clock form factors) in real rooms, not just repeated from other articles.
  • We separate methods from marketing. Each technique lists what it can find and what it can't — the limits are stated on the same page as the feature.
  • We keep legal guidance general. Recording laws differ by country and state; our guides describe common rules (like Airbnb's ban on indoor cameras) and always point you to local authorities for specifics.
  • We date and re-review content. Every guide shows a "last reviewed" date. When platform policies or iOS capabilities change, we update the affected pages.
